I used to go here all the time when I worked nearby a few years ago. When I left that job, I missed getting my daily bagel. I have now moved into the area, so I can get my bagels any time now! I have visited a bunch of times in the past few months, and my experiences there have always been awesome! I usually get the same thing every time (turkey club on sourdough, toasted, with provolone. no mustard, no onions.) and they have never gotten my order wrong. They even have the "Belly" loyalty program, which means you can earn free stuff just for coming in! It's awesome!! Next time I go in, I should have enough points to get a half dozen bagels for free!!

Can i just say that this place is amazing, first off when you walk in it just smells soooooo good and they have over like 29 different flavors of bagels and their bagel paninis i have had every single one of them. Also the sandwiches are amazing. And don't even get me started on the cream cheeses... They are to die for my favorite is the chocolate chip it tastes AMAZING All in all i would recommend this to anyone and the only bad thing is the staff they dont seem very friendly and they look like they hate what they are doing.

It's not a real bagel. Real bagels are boiled before they are baked. This is more like a roll shaped like a bagel. But, it tastes good and that's half the battle. These bagels are relatively large and doughy. I'm traditional when it comes to bagels, so I stick with ones like plain, sesame or poppy seed and egg. I've never been one for the sweet bagels or cheese bagels. There are a number of Great American Bagels around and I believe (but am not certain) that they are franchised. I assume this since the service varies so much between locations. This one, in Elk Grove, I would classify as having fair service. It is clean enough and they had a good variety of bagels available at 7 AM. If I lived or worked closer to Deerfield, I would definitely go to Chicago Bagel and Biali. But, this will do in a pinch.

Today was my second time going to the great american bagel and I have to say they have made me a loyal customer! Each time ive gone in ive gotten 13 bagels to bring home! They're all extremely good! Ive tried the salt, plain, blueberry, strawberry, 4 grain honey, cinnamon raisin, chocolate chip, apple cinnamon and my personal favorite sweet one the cinnamon crunch. Ive also tried their home made plain, strawberry and veggie cream cheese. I HIGHLY reccomend the veggie!! Its the best ive ever had!! I cant believe I live 10 minutes away and never knew about this place! Not to mention the staff is super friendly!

I come in to bagels at least 4 times a week if not more! They have the best blt I've ever had on a cheddar and herb bagel!! And they also have amazing soups!!! This place is great!! I recommend everything on the menu because I seriously love everything! On top of the food being fabulous, the whole staff is great always nice and fast!! BEST PLACE EVER!!

A bad chain that fortunately hasn't been granted status everywhere by banks and village leaders. The bagels here are nothing better than what you can get at your local supermarket. It is overpriced and the sandwiches and bagelwichs are smAll and expensive. One bagel sandwich and one drink will run close to ten bucks not even with chips.

One of the best Great American Bagels I have been to. This Great American Bagel was a lot bigger than most of them. Walking in I noticed that this place was really clean. Some of the Great American bagels I have been to would have a few crumbs left on the table because they didn't clean the tables as soon as the customer left but not here. This place was very clean. I ordered two lox sandwiches. This Great American Bagel also had more employees than most other locations but this location was also a lot busier. Another thing I noticed is that the salmon on my sandwich seemed to be a lot fresher than some of the other locations I had been to. I am assuming this is because this location is a lot busier & the product goes quickly. The one reason I am a fan of this specific location is because they employee took over five minutes to make each sandwich. Some people might not like that but they put so much time into making me a good sandwich & not just throwing stuff on it to hurry me out the door. It was honestly one of the best sandwiches I have had at a Great American Bagel in a while. The dining room at this location had probably two to three times more tables than some of the Great American Bagels I have been to. The also had a bigger selection of drinks & they kept putting fresh bagels in the counter. Overall this place was clean, the food was fresh & the service was good. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area.

i have been here about two dozen times now in a period of 5 years and each visit (always early in the mornings) is a hit or miss for me...there are always great selection of bagels but the quality is never consistent...sometimes really fresh and other times hard and dry...the best selections are the varieties of cream cheeses...always fresh and tasty...the best deal in my opinion, is buying the bagels baker dozen special that comes with two tubs of cream cheese (you can select from several varieties, everyday is slightly different)...don't forget to ask for "free" freezer bags!

I LOVE this place!! Best fix for hot breakfast bagels served all day long :) I always get egg, bacon, cheese on wheat bagel YUM. I also like their turkey bagel with cucumber spread in summer, for a nice refreshing lunch meal.

Had to stop at my vet next door to Great American Bagel the other day. While there I stopped next door for my favorite two sandwiches, roast beef and provolone, and salami and provolone. When I walked in, Rusty greeted me with her awesome cheery personality. She asked if I was having the usual, then prepared to perfection, both sandwiches on toasted bagels, pickle on the side. Delicious!!!!!

Omg. Hidden gem. The food is always fresh and refreshing. You just feel good after eating here. I have ways gone for the bagel sandwiches but would love to come grab a dozen bagels for breakfast. So many awesome, fresh made favors!

Good selection, reasonable priced. Do wish they would have offered to toast the bagel instead of warming it in a microwave, but overall very satisfied.

Great selection of bagels, I was really impressed and they seemed to have an abundance of fillings and options. Friendly staff and definitely worth a revisit. Plus you get to watch the baker at the "bagel zoo" - you'll see what I mean when you get there.

I had never been here before, so I was a little overwhelmed by the huge selection. I got a cinnamon bun and a cheddar jalapeño bagel with salsa cream cheese. I was not a huge fan of the cinnamon bun it was way too sweet for my liking. The cheddar jalapeño was amazing though. The bagels start of cheap at about $1.20. The cream cheese doubles the price somehow. And the specialty bagels, like the cinnamon bun, run about $2.60.

Best bagels around!!! Their jalapeno cheddar bagel is to die for! Great staff--Surgay is such a funny guy who genuinely cares about his customers. Nella is also very warm and welcoming. Both of my pups love their doggy bagels. Look for coupons as they send them out frequently. One of my favorite go-to places :)

Wherever I go to and get a bagel, I always end up comparing it to this place. In every instance, Great American Bagel is the best. Besides the bagels being great, their service is also very good. Very friendly people and clean. I recommend.

I'm going to make this easy as I am not a huge fan of the whole bagel and a schmear deal OR bagel sandwiches as a whole (but my husband is so I keep ending up here): 1. The lox and cream cheese is really the only thing worth ordering off this menu in my opinion. 2. The staff is hit or miss. 3. The drink selection is insane; there are cases of drinks and a soda machine, but no regular fresh-brewed iced tea, which is all I really drink (besides craft beer, that is...but I digress.) 4. The place is decently sized and just recently (within the past few years) redecorated. 5. There are bagel bones and cutesy bagels for holidays which are pretty cute. 6. There is a buy ___ (10? 20? I don't remember!) and get 1 free card. People love that crap. 7. There is also a local teacher discount. Or at least there was. That's pretty cool. Overall, this place is the perfect example of yelp's "A-OK" description.

This Place is awesome everyone that works there is always friendly the bagels are great and the sandwiches are always fresh. My favorite is the California turkey on a plan bagel. I live in Elk Grove Village and its not easy to find good sandwiches but this place has the best deli style in town.

Great bagels! But horrible service! The employees are extremely crabby and rude! I would rather go to Einstein bagels and have good service!

Like 'em! Love the fruity cream cheese. I'll go back only when I'm hungry and happen to have a good deal in my hand (they offer many coupons!). A more patient look or a smile on the staff's face behind the glass would have made it 5 stars.

They've been around forever and seem to be a local favorite. I remember when they first opened back when I was in high school. I also remember a few years later when a few of the lights on their storefront sign burned out, conveniently leaving "EAT AN BAGEL" lit. (okay, so the "AN" didn't make sense, but still) My experiences here are on the bagels and coffee, though I've had an occasional sandwich here and there. No matter what, though, it's my ritual to make a stop in to this Great American Bagel before any race/run that I'm in...particularly the last 3 Chicago Marathons. I loaded up on their Wheat bagels the day before, and the morning of my runs. The Wheat bagel has a nice sweet (not overly sweet) taste to it...which made for perfect fuel in the first few miles of the run. Bagels are great when fresh and still soft a few days later if you pack them in the plastic bags that are provided. Faves are the Jalapeno Cheese, Strawberry, and Blueberry (and Wheat on race day). Tried a few of their sandwiches, with the veggie supreme being my favorite. I also liked the potato bagel, but haven't noticed it the last few times I've been in. I love the coffee here...especially the Amaretto. Though I don't stop in as often as I'd like, I've been in 3 times this past week, just for the Amaretto coffee! Service has always been friendly and quick when I've been in, which has lately been in the early morning hours (7am-ish). It's a nice-sized location with a few booths and tables for dining in.

This was my first visit, everything looked good. I stood in front of the menu while the women keep busy doing nothing, so I walked over to the register. It is only then, someone offered to help. Poor customer service! But the food was good.

Best bagels EVER!!! New ownership over the past few years has been great! Service is always good for me and I actually drive 19 miles one way to get here. So yes.....it is worth the gas money it takes to get there. It's sad to see that the Naperville and Crystal Lake GAB's closed, but I believe Elk Grove Village is just as good. Thanks!

Went in on Labor Day did not realize hours were different for the holiday. Woman behind counter immediately says we have 5 minutes to decide what we want and must take it to go or eat outside. That was our welcome greeting. We ordered our bagel and left my cream cheese was warm and dripping off tasted horrible. I am eight months pregnant and had to sit outside in the heat and eat my bagel that would have taken me 5-10 mins to eat inside.

The owner of the Great American Bagel is so freakn hilarious. He knows his customers by name and it's a nice place to get your breakfast. The place is VERY clean and the food is always fresh. The line moves quickly and the staff are really friendly. The owner of this GAB is actually the new owner of the Chicago GAB, which I just reviewed about. Yay for small business owners! I think it's very important to support the small businesses. So anyways, the food here is always fresh and you can see the bagel machines through a clear window. It's pretty neat to know that the bagels are made every morning at 4 am before the store opens- now that is dedication. I also love their sandwiches and they have a good selection of chips too. The prices are really reasonable and not expensive at all. I actually like the sandwiches better here than at Panera. Also, the bagels here are 10000 x's better because they have a much wider variety and are always fresh. If you are in the Elk Grove area, stop by and get some bagels!

I usually shop at TGAB in Chicago on Belmont, and last Tuesday I was in Schaumburg on business and when I saw TGAB sign I decided to give it a try... And I'm so happy I did! Service is almost perfect and bagel sandwiches are out of this world! I ordered my usual: asiago Swiss supreme with turkey...mmm Fruit salad was very fresh and tasty, a little pricey though... Overall a very good experience!

This bagel place is great. My favorite is the lox bagel and make sure they put the capers on it. Sometimes you can see them making the bagels too and my puppy loves the bagel bones.
